Our 2006-2007 Season

October 1, 2006
Brass Roots Trio -BRAVO

Imagine hearing award winning trumpet, horn and piano players plus the addition of a brilliant operatic tenor. That's how our season opens as we present the Brass Roots Trio. Transcending traditional musical horizons and displaying incomparable virtuosity with its original blend of masterpieces, operatic selections and jazz numbers, the three musicians have performed across the country and around the world. Their combination of technique, finesse and charisma are rarely seen on the classical stage, and they are known for establishing a wonderful rapport with their audience.

November 12, 2006
Duetto-Espressivo-BRAVO

Our second concert will be presented by the captivating and exciting young Violinist Natalia Kuznetsova and pianist Oksana Lutsyshyn, performing together as Duetto-Espressivo both trained and worked in Moscow, and as soloists and chamber musicians they performed around the world. They first met at Old Dominion University in 2001 as members of the ODU contemporary classical music ensemble. Their first concert as a duo was a huge success, and they have continued to perform in the Virginia area and across the United States.

February 11, 2007
Cellist Vasily Popov -BRAVO

Cellist Vasily Popov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, continued his education in Munich, Germany and is currently faculty member at the Levine School of Music in Washington, DC. Accompanied by pianist Ralitza Patcheva the duo will present the third concert of our season. He is top prize winner of the Baltimore Music Club Competition and his CDs are produced by "Arte Nova Records", "BMR", and "Melodia" labels among others.

March 25, 2007
Poulenc Trio -BRAVO

The final program of our twenty-fifth season will feature the Poulenc Trio, the finest of a select few professional wind trios. The unique blend of oboe, piano and bassoon not only covers repertoire from Haydn to the twenty-first century, it also opens up a new vista of sounds and colors to chamber music audiences. Praised by the Washington Post, hailed in Double Reed Magazine, members of the Poulenc Trio combine brilliant 21st century vibrancy with the best of European instrumental tradition.
